EasyFuel for retail petroleum utilizes innovative microprocessor-based smart card technology for customer payment and loyalty. Customers install a simple fuel inlet tag in their vehicle, to allow for irrefutable identification when arriving to the station. It is a cost effective and durable system requiring minimal maintenance. Payment information is collected automatically, wirelessly, and effortlessly.

The fuel inlet tag is a microprocessor-based “smart card.” The microprocessor can be programmed with the customer’s account number for payment. It can store cash value, pre-paid programs, loyalty programs and rewards. The customer simply inserts the nozzle into the fuel inlet, and the nozzle reads the account information for payment. After the transaction is complete, any rewards earned can be written back onto the tag.

EasyFuel identifies the vehicle and verifies that the right kind of gasoline is being put into the vehicle. Information provided can include:
• Registration and VIN number or other vehicle ID number
• Fuel grade and permissible volume 
• Payment / billing information

An EasyFuel Tag Issuing Unit performs the initial programming of the fleet information onto the tag at time of installation. A Personalization Station, which includes software and a desktop reader, is installed in the home office, or wherever secure population, or programming, of handheld tags would be controlled.
